DIY Nut Butters
DIY Nut Butter
Not only is making your own nut butter cheaper than the store bought alternatives, but you decide what goes in and instead of adding stabilisers, thickeners and dextrose (sugar) you will be making 100% natural nut butters. Be warned though they can become seriously addictive as they taste amazing!

Base
- 500 to 750g of Unroasted Almonds, Peanut or Cashews. (other nut varieties can be chosen I just listed a few favourites)
Note if your blender is not very powerful start with smaller amounts to avoid burning out the motor!
Additions
- 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon, Nutmeg or combination of both if you would like to add a warm spice undertone to your nut butter
- 1 Teaspoon of Himalayan Sea Salt if you want to add a slightly salty taste to you nut butter, I find this works really well with the peanut only base.
- 1 Tablespoon of Chia seeds if you want to pack in even more micronutrients and healthy fats to your nut butter.

1) Roast your preferred combination of nuts in the oven at 180 Degrees Celsius fan forced until they start to brown, do not burn them as your nut butter eating experience may become unpleasant, think eating coal..
2) Let the nuts cool before blending, add 200-400grams at a time into your blender depending on its capacity and power.
3) Add in any additions to mix up your nut butter experience, a favourite of mine is salted peanut butter or cinnamon and chia seed almond butter.
4) Blend until the nuts start to combine, you may need to scrap them from the side of the blender as the mixture thickens, continue to blend. After several minutes (depending on the power of your blender) you will notice the nuts combining into the finished product, once they resemble a butter like consistency scoop into your favourite jar and enjoy!
